Hawaii Pacific Health is the parent organization over Straub Hospital & Clinic, Kauai Medical Clinic, Pali Momi Hospital, Kapiolani Women’s’ & Children’s’ Hospital, and Kapiolani Medical Services. As Corporate Director, Mr. Murphy was accountable for all aspects of scheduling, registration, admitting, managed care compliance, financial counseling, and point of care services (including payment collection and cash handling) across the enterprise.

2003 – 05 SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER; Hawaii Pacific Health, Honolulu, HI
Mr. Murphy was the senior project manager over the implementation of integrated systems to support patient access services. The implementations included significant operational redesign, design for application configurations, report design & specifications, data conversions, application build, training, go-live management, and on-going systems management.

1998 – 03 SENIOR ANALYST, Operations & Information Technology; The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH
At the time, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation was a 1000+ physician practice with a 1000 bed hospital with affiliate hospitals in Ohio and Florida. Mr. Murphy served as one of 4 principal Leaders in CCF’s Front-End Initiative. This $30M project was undertaken to re-engineer processes and implement new systems for scheduling, registration, record tracking and managed care compliance (Epic software). Strategic objectives were to improve patient access, customer service, billing accuracy, and user efficiency. Mr. Murphy led CCF’s efforts in process redesign, system design (enhancements and configuration), and go-live management for 5000+ users. Mr. Murphy also was a key participant in defining functional specification & system selection process for ADT and Inpatient applications.

1997 – 98 DIVISION ADMINISTRATOR, Anesthesiology; Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH
CCF’s Anesthesia Division includes the departments of General Surgical Anesthesia, CardioThoracic Anesthesia, Pain Management, Research, Residency Programs, and School for CRNAs, ICU Medical Staff and Respiratory Therapy. Mr. Murphy’s charge included management of operations, personnel, marketing, and program development during a phase of expansion and incorporation of additional hospital’s Anesthesia Staff and programs.

1996 – 97 LEAD PRODUCT DESIGNER; MEDSTAT: Ann Arbor, MI
Medstat provides analytic systems and methodologies for use in the healthcare provider, payor and purchaser markets. Mr. Murphy designed software products across all markets and participated in all levels of new product planning and development. Design work included analytic methodologies, end-user functionality, user interfaces, and database architecture.

1995 – 96 SENIOR CONSULTANT; D.J. Sullivan & Associates: Ann Arbor, MI (sold to Johnson & Johnson in 1996)
D.J.S.&A. provided specialty management consulting services for all aspects of surgical services to client hospitals and surgical practices. Mr. Murphy’s consultation contributed to surgical program optimizations for multiple hospitals. Mr. Murphy expanded the scope of D.J.S.& A. services by developing a comprehensive suite of analytic and planning methodologies specific to GI labs and other endoscopic programs.

1991 – 95 MANAGER - Decision Support; Mercy Health Services; Farmington Hills, MI
Mercy Health Services corporate offices provide IT management for Sisters of Mercy hospitals throughout Michigan and Iowa. Mr. Murphy established the Decision Support Systems department and successfully managed and supported all aspects of implementation and integration of advanced decision support technology (TSI software) for this 22-hospital group.

1988 – 91 MANAGER - Health Care Operations Consulting; Ernst & Young; Cleveland, OH
Ernst & Young’s consulting practice, later sold to Cap Gemini, was an international firm, serving most sectors of manufacturing, service and technology markets. Mr. Murphy’s consultation benefited many US health care organizations, including all regions of Kaiser Permanente. Mr. Murphy’s focus was in the areas of operations, cost management / accounting, finance and decision support systems. During his tenure, Mr. Murphy established himself as a knowledge expert on Decision Support Systems and was involved in all active E&Y engagements focusing on DSS implementations.

1986 – 88 CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR; Roanoke Orthopaedic Center; Roanoke, VA
The Roanoke Orthopaedic Center was an 11 physician orthopedic practice. Mr. Murphy had administrative responsibility for all aspects of this practice and his position reported directly to the board of directors. During his tenure, Mr. Murphy managed a legal restructuring, construction & occupation of a new facility, new computer systems, internal reorganization, conversion to performance pay for physicians, and a 33% increase of net revenues.

1982 – 83 STAFF NURSE; Greenwich Hospital Association; Greenwich, CT
Mr. Murphy managed a 28 bed adult medical teaching Nursing unit on evening shift. Served as community spokesman for the Nursing department. Member of the hospital's quality assurance committee. Initiated several changes in clinical practice and documentation to improve patient care. Obtained ACLS equivalent training and frequently worked additional shifts in ICU during staffing shortages.
